Centralization device with ultra-low drag enabled $720k cost savings on a cement evaluation campaign

An operator in Nigeria had previously done a multi-well Cement Evaluation campaign in very high deviations using tractors for conveyance and in-line centralizers. Due to cost and operational challenges, they were looking for an alternative for the new campaign. Following Petromac’s presentation of its ultra-low drag centralization devices (CA7) used in 7” casing, they approved its use for a test run on the first well. In combination with specially built weight bars, the CA7s conveyed the toolstring to 78° deviation by gravity alone, meeting the job depth objectives, while at the same time, providing perfect centralization and excellent data quality. The success of the test run convinced the client to continue the campaign with Petromac’s C7s only, replacing the use of tractors and in-line centralizers.
