18”+ washout successfully navigated in a vertical well in Peru
A standalone holefinder system (Pathfinder) centered the bottom of the tool in a huge washout ,which permitted the toolstring to pass through seamlessly.
Petromac Pathfinder is a hole finder device that can be attached to the bottom of any wireline logging toolstring.
The Pathfinder mandrel is made from strong, ultra-light carbon fiber composite. The integral bowspring centralizer ensures the Pathfinder nose is at the center of the wellbore regardless of the hole size, thereby avoiding ledges. The Pathfinder is suitable for wellbores from 6 to 26in, regardless of deviation.
The Pathfinder was mobilized for a vertical well in a remote location in Peru, where, historically, it had not been possible to navigate the enormous washouts formed below the casing shoe.
